LASH EXTENSIONS FAQ

DO I NEED TO PREPARE BEFORE MY EYELASH APPOINTMENT?

Prior to your appointment, try your best to arrive without any eye makeup, do not curl your lashes or wear mascara the day before and the day of your appointment. It will help minimize the cleanup time and more time for lashing. Please AVOID excessive caffeine before your appointment.

Why should I not drink coffee? because it will make your eyes and body jittery. This will slow down the application process and will make it difficult to complete the service. Do not tint lashes the day of your appointment.

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Very thin false lashes that are carefully applied to your natural lash 0.05mm - 1mm away from your eyelid. The adhesive should NEVER touch your skin. They are waterproof, semi-permanent extensions. Eyelash extensions are a technique used to enhance the length and fullness of your natural lashes.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO APPLY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Lash extensions are applied while you are lying down with your eyes closed on a comfortable spa bed. This usually takes about 2-2.5 hours for a full set of lashes, but also depends on the set of lashes you decide to get. After prepping your lashes, your bottom lashes are protected with a gel eye pad, lash extensions are then applied 1-to-1 with medical grade adhesive. It is a really relaxing, non-invasive treatment and most of our clients take the time to catch up on their beauty sleep!

DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES OR CAUSE THEM TO FALL OUT?

With proper isolation, appropriate choice of weight (length and extension diameter), proper aftercare and touch ups done every 2-3 weeks, lash extensions do not damage your natural lashes.

Based on the growth cycle of eyelashes, when applying lashes, lash artists are trained to look for adult lashes to attach the individual synthetic lashes. Young (baby) lashes are left to allow them to fully develop and when it comes times to re-lash, we have new strong lashes to bond to. Lash extensions will NOT cause your natural eyelashes to fall out. Remember that your natural lashes have their own life cycle of falling and growing – like the hair found elsewhere on your body.

HOW LONG WILL MY NEW LASH SET LAST?

Your new lashes will last between 2 to 4 weeks. To maintain the full look of your lashes, it will require you to maintain refills every 2-3 weeks to replace lashes that have shed and lashes that have grown out. Some women are able to push their touch up to 3 weeks if they have a SLOW growth cycle. Please consult with your lash technician to confirm at what frequency to book your lash touch-ups.

Additionally, retention varies from person to person because it depends on your lifestyle, natural lash growth cycle and maintenance. There are many factors that affect retention, such as makeup, skin oiliness/dryness, skin care routine, hormonal birth control use, tendency to sleep on one's stomach, willingness to clean lashes often, etc.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BE COMING IN FOR MY LASH REFILLS?

We recommend getting refills every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long your extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. In order to book a refill there must be 40-50% of lash extensions still on in order to be considered a refill. Anything over 21 days is considered a new set and will be charged accordingly. Factors such as exposure to humidity, steam or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall quicker. Refills can take from 45 - 60 minutes, depending on the state of your remaining lashes.

I BRUSHED MY LASHES AND SOME FELL OFF! WHAT HAPPENED?

Please keep in mind that we shed 3-5 natural lashes a day. It is just more noticeable because you have extensions applied. It is normal for a few lash extensions to pop off with brushing. This is why we fill every lash possible so that it will still be full if you lose 3-5 a day. Lash extensions are not implants but semi-permanent enhancements that are meant to be touched up every 2 weeks.

CAN I SWIM, EXERCISE, OR SHOWER WHILE WEARING EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Yes. The glue we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, and exercise. However we recommend that you DO NOT WASH your eye area for at least 24 hours after the initial eyelash extension application. This allows the bonding agent to fully dry and prolong the life of your extensions.

SHOULD I CHOOSE CLASSIC, HYBRID, VOLUME OR MEGA VOLUME?

It can be difficult to decide what type of lash extensions you would like to get, especially if you are a first-timer. For first-timers, I usually recommend to start out with classic or hybrid lashes and upgrade to light volume, full volume or mega volume with time.

The best way to go about it is to bring a picture of the look you want and I will take a look at your natural lashes and let you know which type of lash extensions will get us closest to achieving that look. You may choose a style to start out with and change it over to another style every time you get your refill done. It will take 2 or 3 refill appointments to fully change over to another style.

DO YOU USE PRE-MADE FANS FOR VOLUME TECHNIQUE?

No, I DO NOT use pre-made fans or cluster lashes. Clusters are meant for short term use with temporary adhesive and can be damaging for your lashes in the long run since they are applied without isolating your natural lashes. I hand make all volume fans on the spot during each appointment.

I AM PREGNANT. AM I ABLE TO GET LASH EXTENSIONS?

Laying still on your back for 2-2.5 hours may not be comfortable or possible if you are too advanced in your pregnancy. Also, hormones may affect your growth cycle and cause you to need refills more frequently.
